U.S. Workers More Worried Than Europeans About Being Broke in Retirement

While Americans rate their financial wellbeing higher than their European counterparts, they are also more afraid of running out of money in retirement, according to the 2022 Alight International Workforce and Wellbeing Mindset. So reports Plan Sponsor.

Money fall 163496 640smallAlmost half (47%) of U.S. workers are worried about running out of money in retirement. In Europe, that fear is slightly less:

  • U.K. (39%)
  • France (42%)
  • Germany (41%)
  • Netherlands (24%)

“Workers worldwide found that COVID-19 intensified challenges to wellbeing,” Stephan Scholl, Alight CEO, said in a statement. “As a result, they sometimes face difficulties in showing up to work as their best selves, which ultimately affects companies’ bottom line. At the same time, caring about employee wellbeing is critical to recruiting and retaining talent.”
