FA Paid Off Old Investors with New Fund, SEC Claims  

The SEC has charged an investment advisor with deceiving investors by allegedly diverting their funds from a private fund he was starting to pay off investors in three funds he was closing. So reports Alpha Beta Stock Research.

Scam road sign 464653 1920According to the SEC’s complaint filed in Georgia federal court, Michael Wayne Williams and his businesses Highguard Capital and Guardian Opportunity Management were involved in an $18.8 million multipart offering fraud.

The regulator asked the court for permanent injunctive relief, disgorgement with prejudgment interest and civil penalties.
