Specifically, Severt had been collecting Social Security disability benefits, saying he has been unable to work for more than a decade. However, the U.S. Department of Justice said he has been “working since at least 2014 in the tree trimming business.”
Severt was shot in 2010 by his now ex-wife. She was sentenced to four years in jail for the shooting and her then boyfriend, a police officer at the time, was sentenced to 18 months for inciting her to shoot Severt.
Severt Jr. was previously banned by Finra for stealing $20,000 from his church. However, is accused of lying to regulators related to that theft.
