Most Investors Fail to Conduct Advisor Background Checks

More than 85% of investors don’t conduct background checks on advisors they are considering hiring. So reports ThinkAdvisor.

However, when investors do conduct the checks, they frequently do an inadequate job, regulators say. During a recent presentation, Lori Shock, who is the Security Exchange Commission’s director of investor education and advocacy, said most investors limit their research on advisors to brief Google searches.
