The Top 100 ranking includes some of the biggest shops as well as independent advisory teams, all whom run lucrative practices. The rankings are determined based on assets under management, revenue, and the quality of the practice. Barron’s notes that “investment performance isn’t an explicit factor because clients have varied goals and risk tolerances.”
Some of the advisors mentioned in the Barron’s article, include Andy Burish, a Madison, Wis.–based UBS advisor, Stephan Cassaday, head of Cassaday & Co. in McLean, Va., Steven Hefter, who manages $5.8 billion from Highland Park, Ill., and Neuberger Berman’s Stephanie Stiefel.
