More than 40% of individuals who either have a high personal savings rate or make large retirement plan contributions say they drive older vehicles, live in modest homes, travel less than they prefer, and do DIY projects instead of hiring outside help, according to a recent survey by Principal. So reports Business Insider.

Among those who save aggressively, more than 70% say they began saving in their 20s.
